PANTONE COLOUR OF THE YEAR – 2013
I know that you are already wondering if “white” is the colour of the year since we are at the White Ball. Not at all and that is why when I heard about the Pantone Colour of the Year, I just had to write about it. Every year, Pantone announces the Colour of the Year; this colour influences fashion, beauty and interior DESIGN.
The 2012 Colour of the Year was Pantone 17-1463 Tangerine Tango, a reddish orange believed to have provided the energy boost we needed to recharge and move forward. So what is the 2013 Colour of the Year?
Pantone 17-5641 Emerald, a lively, radiant, lush green believed to promote balance and harmony. Most often associated with brilliant, precious gemstones, the perception of Emerald is sophisticated and luxurious. Since antiquity, this luminous, magnificent hue has been the color of beauty and new life in many cultures and religions. It’s also the color of growth, renewal and prosperity – no other color conveys regeneration more than green.
For centuries, many countries have chosen green to represent healing and unity- excerpt from Pantone. If there is one thing I now look forward to next year, it is the use of Emerald and other colours from the green family in aesthetics. Rather than be afraid, choose to be inspired by Emerald 17-5641 in 2013.
